Here is a brief list of what I feel are the must-have applications (apps) for your iPod Touch or iPhone:

1. Installer. This is the application you get when you jailbreak, or unlock your device. From the Installer you can simply browse through collections of programs and downlaod them onto your iPod Touch or iPhone with the tap of your finger.

2. Apple Mail/Google Maps. If you are an iPod Touch user, the first two programs you need to get onto your iPod are Mail and Google Maps. These are quite simple to install using the Installer program, make sure you install the packages in order as described in the Installer App.

3. To Do List. This application is just like it sounds, it is a simple To-Do list. I also installed this using the Jailbreak installer application.

4. SpringBoard, SummerBoard, and Customize. These three applications all work together to cusotmize your iPhone or iPod Touch. They allow you to control your wallpaper, and customize your application icons and the order which they appear on your device. You can also add themes to your device, to easily change the look or revert it to the original factory style.
