THE APPLE IPHONE AUSTRALIA
The
Apple iPhone became available to buy from June 29, 2007 (
US release) when it sold like hot-cakes to a much anticipated audience.
The
Apple iPhone
represents what mobile phone users in Australia have been looking for -
a mobile device that does pretty much everything you want (mobile
mapping, mobile email, mobile internet, digital music, photos,
video/movies, mobile calendar, stock quotes, sms texting, note taking)
and much more! There is also the capability to write extra applications
or widgets as the iPhone has the full Apple MacOS operating system on
board! This isn't some cut/watered down version, this is the full OS,
making application writing very extensive, yet easy to perform.
The
iPhone,
while seemingly like a high-end PDA (personal Digital Assistant), goes
one significant step further in amazing usability, it does away with
the stylus (the little plastic pointing device used by most PDA's) and
uses a new input method called
multi-touch. What
multi touch
represents is a new, more versatile and fluid way to interact with the
iPhone by using hand / finger gestures. An example of the multi touch
interaction is running your finger across the bottom of the screen to
unlock the iPhone, this makes it a very simple action, yet it wont be unlocked by accident in your pocket or bag.
The iPhone also maintains all of the music and video capabilities that
made the Apple iPod's so famous around the globe, yet now with the
further development, polish and the multi-touch interaction.
THE IPHONE - A REVOLUTIONARY NEW MOBILE DEVICE
The Apple iPhone enables you to make mobile phone calls simply by
selecting the picture (if setup) of the person you want to call from
your visual address book. You can also listen to voice messages (in any
order you like) similar to email.
IPHONE SMS TEXTING
The Apple iPhone includes SMS software with a predictive QWERTY software keyboard that avoids and corrects
mistakes.
IPHONE CAMERA
The Apple iPhone features a 2 MP (megapixel) camera and a photo
management software that surpasses anything that you have use before on
a mobile phone. Synchronise photos from your PC or Mac computer.
IPHONE WIDESCREEN IPOD
The Apple iPhone is also a widescreen iPod with touch sensitive
controls that allow you play all of your content; including digital
music, audiobooks, videos, TV shows and movies - on a beautiful 3.5
inch colour widescreen display. It also lets you sync your content from
the iTunes library on your PC or Mac. You can scroll through songs,
artists, albums, and playlists with just a flick of your finger. Album
artwork is colourfully presented on the large iPhone display.
IPHONE WIRELESS INTERNET
The Apple iPhone includes a rich HTML email client and Safari (the most
advanced web browser ever on a portable device) - which automatically
syncs from your PC or Mac computer. Safari also includes built-in
Google and Yahoo! search. The Apple iPhone is fully multi-tasking, so
you can read a web page while downloading your email in the background
over Wi-Fi or EDGE.
IPHONE EMAIL
The Apple iPhone uses a rich HTML email client that retrieves your
email in the background from most POP3 or IMAP mail services and
displays photos and images along with the text.
IPHONE MAPS
With Google Maps and iPhone's Maps application, you can view maps and
satellite images, or get directions and traffic information, all from
the iPhone's remarkable, easy-to-use multi-touch interface.
IPHONE WIDGETS
The Apple iPhone also has widgets: small programs that give you helpful
information like stock reports, weather reports, and more in real time.
IPHONE WIRELESS
The Apple iPhone uses quad-band GSM, the world standard for wireless
communications. It also supports 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 2.0
with EDR, which links to Apple's new, amazingly compact Bluetooth
headset.
APPLE IPHONE SENSORS
The Apple iPhone's accelerometer knows (detects) when you rotate the
device from portrait to landscape, then automatically changes the
contents of the display, so you see the entire width of a web page or a
photo in its proper landscape aspect ratio.
The proximity sensor detects when you move the iPhone to your ear and
instantly turns off the display to save power and prevent accidental
touches until the iPhone is moved away.
Also, an ambient light sensor automatically adjusts the display's
brightness to the best level for the current ambient light, enhancing
the user experience and saving power at the same time.
